Which Bedrock models can Topsoil use?
The ones your account has enabled, including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok, Amazon Nova and Meta Llama families. Availability varies by AWS Region, account access and service configuration.
Built on Amazon Bedrock
Topsoil is the engineering workspace on top of the Bedrock account you already run. It adds a disciplined workflow, approvals and budgets, and it leaves the model, the identity and the data with AWS and with you.
Topsoil does not replace anything in your AWS estate. It builds on Amazon Bedrock for models, IAM and IAM Identity Center for sign-in, Amazon S3 for the context library and budget policy, AWS PrivateLink for private network paths, and AWS Budgets for the spend backstop. Your spend on models stays on your AWS bill, and your existing AWS controls keep doing what they do.
Pick from the models enabled for your account, including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok, Amazon Nova and Meta Llama. Topsoil lists what your account and region can actually call; availability varies by AWS Region, account access and service configuration, and AWS publishes the current list.
A run goes through explore, design, plan, implement, verify, review and document, and each stage can be routed to a different Bedrock model. Review is more useful when it is independent, so the reviewing model can come from a different vendor than the one that wrote the change. You set a default in Settings, override it per project, and change a stage from the terminal with /workflow.
AWS states that with Amazon Bedrock, inputs and outputs are never shared with model providers or used to train base models. Topsoil adds no copy of its own: there is no Thazen prompt store, and the request goes from your machine to the endpoint you configured. If your account turns on Bedrock model invocation logging, those logs live in your account under your retention policy.
Monthly user and account budgets are checked before each model call, in the terminal and the desktop app. Dollar figures are Topsoil’s own estimate; the AWS bill is the authority. Because a budget Topsoil enforces stops Topsoil and not Bedrock, Topsoil also ships a CloudFormation template for an AWS budget action that attaches a Bedrock deny policy to the Topsoil role when the budget trips. Budgeting guide.
Topsoil calls Bedrock model inference (InvokeModel and its streaming form), lists the models your account can use, applies a Bedrock guardrail when you configure one, and uses Titan Text Embeddings v2 for on-device search. It does not build on Bedrock Agents, Knowledge Bases, Flows or image generation.

No. Topsoil is a product of Thazen, LLC that builds on Amazon Bedrock and runs in your own AWS account.
A pilot runs in your own AWS account, with your models and your material, and ends with findings you can act on.
